When the sun goes down the diurnal (daytime) animals go to sleep and the nocturnal (nighttime) animals come out to play.

For guests staying 3 nights or more we recommend a tranquil cruise down the winding Bushman’s river which will be included in one of your game drives. Snacks and drinks are served on the boat, which is operated by a professional skipper. This unique perspective of Amakhala Game Reserve allows guests an intimate experience of the riverine environment. Look out for hippos, otters and a variety of birdlife such as the colourful Malachite Kingfisher, magnificent African Fish Eagle and the rare African Finfoot as you cruise quietly through their habitat.

Stand a chance to encounter the Big 5 of Amakhala Game Reserve on a wilderness walk with a fully qualified Trails Guide, along with the diverse flora and fauna that the reserve has to offer.
